MARIVELES, BATAAN – Reinforcing its support to improving community health and wellbeing, AboitizPower private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) partnered with the local government unit (LGU) of Mariveles to conduct Project Saysay Plus: Nutrition and Dental Mission at the Mariveles Sports Complex last July 21, 2026.
In celebration of the National Nutrition Month, the outreach activity mobilized five employee volunteers celebrating their birthday in July, transforming their personal milestones into an opportunity to serve the company’s host communities through meaningful volunteerism.
The mission benefited 150 individuals, including 60 malnourished children accompanied by their parents or guardians and 30 out-of-school LGBTQIA+ youth. Beneficiaries received free dental check-ups, nutrition and hygiene education, as well as essential hygiene kits, tumblers, and umbrellas, helping improve access to basic healthcare while promoting healthy lifestyle practices.
The initiative forms part of Project Saysay Plus, the enhanced version of Project Saysay, an AboitizPower corporate social responsibility (CSR) program launched in 2023. Derived from the Filipino word saysay, meaning "worthwhile," the program encourages employees of GMEC and GNPD to celebrate their birthdays by giving back to their host communities through volunteer work and community outreach.
Since its launch, Project Saysay has fostered a culture of volunteerism among employees while strengthening the company's relationships with its host communities.
In 2026, the program was elevated into Project Saysay Plus, expanding beyond the traditional distribution of donations by integrating Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities into every outreach effort. The enhanced approach ensures that beneficiaries receive not only essential supplies but also practical knowledge that empowers them to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
By combining preventive healthcare services, nutrition education, and employee volunteerism, Project Saysay Plus reflects GMEC and GNPD's continuing commitment to creating shared value for their host communities, demonstrating that even small acts of service can create meaningful and lasting impact.| via Weng Chavez
