BATAAN — Despite a rainy morning, nine AboitizPower scholars took part in the celebration of Bataan Arbor Day 2026 through a tree planting activity held last June 25, 2026, at the Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) Area of the Alangan Farmers Producers Association, Inc. (AFPAI) in Barangay Duale, Limay.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) of Bataan and gathered nearly 200 volunteers from various organizations committed to environmental protection and sustainable development.
AboitizPower was represented by GMEC-GNPD CSR Program Supervisor Abigail Jacinto, alongside the participating scholars who enthusiastically contributed to the reforestation effort despite the inclement weather.
Together, the volunteers successfully planted approximately 2,000 seedlings of suha, mangosteen, lemon, avocado, and narra trees, helping restore and enrich the local forest ecosystem.
Joining the activity were representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Philippine Coast Guard, Iskolar ng Bataan, SMC Mariveles Power Generation Corporation, Limay Power Inc., Alpha Phi Omega, Makati Eagles Club, and the Local Government Unit of Barangay Duale.
The participation of AboitizPower scholars reflects the company's commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible leaders who actively contribute to the well-being of their communities.
By engaging in meaningful environmental initiatives such as Bataan Arbor Day, the scholars demonstrated that collective action can create a lasting positive impact on both people and the environment, helping build a more sustainable future for generations to come.| via Rowena Chavez
