ABOITIZPOWER VOLUNTEERS COLLECT OVER 300 KILOGRAMS OF MARINE DEBRIS AT DINGININ BEACH FOR INTERNATIONAL CLEAN-UP 2025

MARIVELES, BATAAN – Thirty-two volunteers from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD) successfully collected 32 sacks of marine debris, weighing approximately 315 kilograms, during the second phase of the AboitizPower Coastal Clean-up project at Dinginin Beach, Barangay Alas-asin last September 16, 2025.
The event was held in participation to the International Coastal Clean-up 2025, a global movement dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans.
The clean-up, which ran from 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN, yielded a significant amount of plastic waste. Data gathered from the event identified the top three most prevalent types of litter:

• 599 plastic bottle caps

• 573 plastic beverage bottles

• 427 plastic grocery bags

These findings highlight the persistent issue of single-use plastics polluting coastal areas. The data collected will contribute to a global database that helps researchers and policymakers understand the scale of the marine debris problem and devise solutions.
The AboitizPower GMEC and GNPD Coastal Clean-up activity commends the dedication of the volunteers who participated in this vital environmental initiative.
Their efforts are a crucial step in preserving the natural beauty of Bataan's coastline and protecting marine wildlife from the harmful effects of pollution.| via Rowena Chavez
